Prior to joining Shaws, Richard had over 20 years experience with a Regional Electricity Board, training as an Electrical Engineer before going on to a variety of jobs within the Electricity Supply Industry.  He started out as an Engineer working on electrical faults (the chap in a suit looking down a hole in the ground!) before moving on to Electrical Contracting where he project-managed over £20 Million worth of installation projects on Canary Wharf, including all of the substations and electrical infrastructure to the main tower block, One Canada Square.  He then moved to IT and Admin project management and led the electricity supply business through supply de-regulation in 1998.  Additionally, at this time he sat on a National Expert Group involved with the electricity metering arrangements for de-regulation.

Richard joined Shaws in 2000 and became a Board Director in 2001.  He is also a member of the Institute of Directors and is responsible for the Strategic Implementation for the firm as well as all of the 'back office' functions including IT, HR, Admin and Telecoms
