Ian Mackay, Business Development Director at Shaws has been involved in taxation for almost 40 years. He started his career in taxation in September 1968 with the Inland Revenue in Birmingham, Coventry and London before joining Price Waterhouse in 1973 where he looked after some well known business entrepreneurs in the West Midlands community for almost 10 years. Ian then moved to Ernst & Young in Birmingham and as a Senior Tax Manager in the Private Client Department headed up a team of 15.
Ian left Ernst & Young in July 1992 to assist in the Management Buy Out of Ernst & Young's Telford office where he remained for just over two years before the office was acquired by Bentley Jennison. In April 1995 Ian then re-joined his former colleagues Andrew Shaw and Suzanne Wallace as a Partner in Shaw & Co where he continued to specialise in all aspects of personal taxation. In 2004 Ian took on a new challenge of marketing the firm and assumed the title of Business Development Director. Over the last 12 months, the Marketing team have been heavily involved in the re-branding of the firm.
